The Telluride is an admired vehicle because it strives to stay ahead of the competition. To illustrate, we compare it to the Honda Pilot.
When both vehicles stand next to each other, the first difference between the Telluride and Pilot becomes obvious: style. The Telluride features beautiful contemporary styling from bumper to bumper, rivalling luxury brands. Inside, things get even bolder, with luxury-class elements and finishes. In contrast, the Honda Pilot looks like a throwback to another generation, with an uninspired form and conservative lines.
The Telluride goes another step further with the new 2021 Nightsky Edition. It features an aggressive character with stealthy elements that create an SUV that's easy to admire.
Each Telluride is equipped with a 3.8-litre six-cylinder that produces an impressive 291 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. This edges out the Honda Pilot's 280 horsepower and with the same torque. Also, the Telluride is able to tow up to 2,268 kg—plenty to haul a family-size camper, boat, and more.
Both vehicles are designed as family vehicles, but only one has some of the best legroom in its segment. The Telluride has a very impressive 1,120 mm of front legroom compared to the Pilot's 1,039 mm. That is an 80 mm difference, and a welcome bonus for front-seat occupants. Rear seat passengers receive 1,069 mm of legroom, which is 30 additional mm than the Pilot's front-seat legroom!
The Telluride also has 600 litres of cargo volume behind the third row, which is more than the Pilot in the same configuration; the Honda comes in at 510 litres. This comes in handy when you have a full load of passengers that need space to store luggage, gear, or other cargo.
