2023 Kia Sportage : The new-generation Kia SUV promises to exceed expectations

The 2023 Kia Sportage is on its way, and it promises to deliver everything buyers not only expect from a compact sport utility vehicle, but everything they have always wanted as well. Unveiled last October, the 2021 Kia Sportage is completely redesigned from the wheels up, and brings with its new generation a long list of improvements in every area.

A Luxurious Interior for the new 2023 Kia Sportage

Kia has always delivered exceptional value by offering more features for less money than its competitors. The new generation of Kia products takes it one step further by not only offering more features, but impressive refinement as well.

Sitting behind the wheel of the 2023 Kia Sportage, you won’t believe how affordable it was given the premium feel of the redesigned cabin, the quality materials that abound, and the impressive technology throughout.

It starts in the driver’s seat where an available dual panoramic curved display connects two screens, one for the infotainment system and one for the digital instrument cluster. Each measuring 12.3 inches, they create nearly 25 inches of display for the driver which gives a definite premium feel to the 2023 Kia Sportage’s dashboard.

SX trims and above are equipped with real, intricate stitching that add to the overall luxury of the interior while the asymmetrical console angled towards the driver and angular air vents have a decidedly modern flair to them.

Refinement Meets Functionality Inside the Redesigned Sportage

The interior of the 2023 Kia Sportage isn’t just more luxurious, it is also a lot more functional. Indeed, the Sportage has grown in size in every area:

  • 1-inch longer in total length
  • 4-inch longer wheelbase
  • Height and width increase by 0.5 inches
  • Best-in-class 41.3 inches of rear legroom
  • Best-in-class 1,121 litres of rear cargo space with all seats in place

The 2023 Kia Sportage also keeps its dual level cargo floor which helps transport objects of varying size with ease.

The new Sportage also features some nifty convenience features such as built-in coat hangers molded behind the front seats as well as integrated hooks to place shopping bags. Moreover, each seat houses USB ports for easy connectivity. Smart storage inside the 2023 Sportage doesn’t stop there as it also offers removable cupholders that can transform into a storage area for larger items such as tablet.

Improved Efficiency Under the Sportage’s Sculpted Hood

The 2023 Kia Sportage promises to deliver the same dynamic and sporty performance as the previous Sportage did. It will feature a new 2.5-litre four-cylinder powertrain with an expected 187 horsepower. This engine will not only be one of the most powerful in the segment, but Kia wants to make it one of the most efficient as well.

Paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox out of the gate, the engine’s fuel consumption has been lowered by an estimated 8%. Moreover, the Sportage will offer an advanced all-wheel drive system called Active AWD which features a centre-locking differential that actively distributes torque between the axles to ensure optimal handling and stability.

Moreover, the 2023 Kia Sportage will offer a range of electrified powertrains as well including a new plug-in hybrid version. The latter will deliver 261 horsepower and will offer an impressive 51 kilometres of all-electric range.

A Range of Standard Safety Features in the 2023 Kia Sportage
