More space
The 2023 Kia Sportage makes a great use of interior space due to its clever packaging, which allows it to boast more interior space in every measure over the 2022 Mazda CX-5. Indeed, the Sportage benefits from more headroom, legroom and shoulder room than the CX-5, both for front and rear passengers. The difference is even more impressive in the cargo space. With all of the seats in place, the 2023 Sportage benefits from 1,121 liters of loading space while the Mazda has to make do with only 872 liters. To have even more space, the rear seat folds in both vehicles to reveal up to 2,098 liters in the Kia and only 1,679 liters in the Mazda. This means that the Sportage will be much better suited for family trips where you need to carry both cargo and passengers.
A better value
Kia has long been known has one of the brands that offers the best value on the market and the 2023 Sportage reinforces this reputation. The Sportage is offered in 6 trim levels which allows you to choose the one that best fits your budget and your needs. Comparing the entry-level LX to the entry-level CX-5 GX reveals an almost $4,000 difference in the base price despite a similar equipment level and even the LX with all-wheel drive comes to about $2,000 less than the CX-5. Higher trim levels are also a better value in the Kia, since the most expensive version of the Sportage is almost $5,000 less expensive than the most expensive CX-5, but it is equipped with the ventilated front seats, larger infotainment and driver information screens and the blind spot cameras, all features that are not found on the Mazda
A better fuel efficiency
The 2023 Kia Sportage is not only more spacious, more affordable and more luxurious than the 2022 Mazda CX-5, it is also more fuel efficient. Indeed, the estimated fuel consumption for the most efficient Sportage will be 9.3L / 100 km in the city and 7.4L / 100 km on the highway while the Mazda can only achieve 9.9L / 100 km in the city and 7.9L / 100 km on the highway, despite the base engines delivering the same horsepower figure in both models.
