There’s so much to like here but many potential EV6 buyers are still wondering: “how do I get the most out of my EV powertrain? How and when can I charge?”
Well, those may seem like loaded questions but as we’ll see, perhaps not so much.
For starters, with either a 58 kWh or 77.4 kWh battery on-hand (and either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive), the EV6 is capable of 373 km – 499 km on a single charge. Even on the lower end of the spectrum, that should be enough range for the average Canadian drive length, so you’re well covered.
Helping with all this is the fact that the EV6 comes with four different levels of brake regeneration as well as one-pedal diving. The latter is a bit of a jack-of-all-trades in that not only does it start to recharge your battery as soon as you release the throttle, but it also slows you down without using the friction brakes, providing longer life for your rotors and pads.
At the end of the day, of course – both literally and figuratively – you are going to have to charge the EV6, and with its ability to hook up to a level III DC fast charger, you can go from 10 per cent to 80 per cent battery life in under 20 minutes. These types of chargers are becoming more and more plentiful in Canada, across numerous networks from Petro-Canada, Chargepoint, Electrify Canada and more.
Many of these sites also feature level II 240V chargers, which you may also be able to install at home and will get you a full charge in about eight hours. After that, there’s the tried, tested and true method of plugging in to a 110V household outlet. It takes time to get a full charge in this manner, but at least you’ll be resting at home while it does its thing.
Its ease-of-use is only a small fraction of the Kia EV6 story; come visit us to see what we mean!
