More DetailsThe 2024 Kia Telluride Surpasses Stringent IIHS Safety Standards
The 2024 Kia Telluride has secured the prestigious TOP SAFETY PICK+ (TSP+) rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). This honor reflects the vehicle's outstanding ability to protect both its occupants and pedestrians.. In tandem, the 2024 Kia Sportage also earned the laudable TOP SAFETY PICK (TSP) rating, demonstrating Kia's broad commitment to safety across its SUV lineup.
In 2024, the IIHS raised its safety criteria to include more stringent evaluations, particularly aimed at enhancing rear passenger protection and improving pedestrian crash avoidance systems, especially in low-light conditions. To achieve the TSP+ rating, vehicles now have to pass a more demanding side protection test and score at least "acceptable" in the revamped pedestrian front crash prevention test, which combines daytime and nighttime evaluations into a single, comprehensive assessment. Additionally, a modified moderate overlap front test, now incorporating a second dummy seated behind the driver, further scrutinizes the vehicle's ability to safeguard rear passengers. The Telluride excelled in these rigorous tests, showcasing its superior safety features.
Kia has met these requirements head on and has surpassed the latest safety standards. Steve Center, COO and EVP of Kia America, underscored the company's alignment with the IIHS's mission to elevate road safety, emphasizing Kia's proactive approach to incorporating advanced safety technologies and structural design improvements.
The 2024 Telluride, renowned for its bold aesthetics and spacious interior capable of accommodating up to eight passengers, continues to impress with its array of cutting-edge technological offerings. Among these are the available dual 12.3-inch panoramic display screens, Digital Key 2 Touch, and Kia’s latest suite of advanced driver assistance systems, including Highway Driving Assist. These features not only enhance the driving experience but significantly contribute to the overall safety and security of the vehicle.
Furthermore, the Telluride's achievement in retaining the TSP+ designation for the second consecutive year, following the IIHS's introduction of more stringent criteria, is a clear indication of Kia's unwavering focus on safety. This accomplishment, coupled with the Sportage's TSP rating, reflects Kia's comprehensive approach to ensuring the well-being of all road users, affirming the brand's position as a leader in automotive safety.
